Hello, I just had a quick Q on howto setup the Fingerprint reader. Is there a way where it'll let me login only with the fingerprint reader on.

Feb 07, 2017 Latitude E6420 (windows 10) - Finger. By Gilberto Morais. Though I don't have a fingerprint reader. I did check the dell 6420xfr support site and Dell does have some drivers, I'm not sure if the dell identity protection driver is what you are looking for or not. But there isn't anything else there that appears to be correct. This download provides Dell ControlVault w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor driver and is supported on Dell Latitude XT3 that is designed to run on Windows Operating System Only.
Check if there is any error messages in device manager. Refer the steps below:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Click on Device manager.
- Click on View Tab, Select Show hidden devices.
- Click on Scan for Hardware changes.
- Check if any unknown devices show up in the device list.
- Right click on the device and click on Properties.
- In General tab, under device status check for the message. Post back if there is any error message
Method 1: Run the Hardware Troubleshooter
The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which checks the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues and provides the details on how to fix them. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

- Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.
- Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
- In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
- Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
- Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
- Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
If the troubleshooter was unable to find and fix the issue, then I suggest you to try the next method 2 and check.
Method 2: Check the issue in Safe Mode and perform a Clean Boot.
Step 1: Boot the computer in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists.
In Windows, we can start the computer in different advanced troubleshooting modes to find and fix problems on the PC. One of such troubleshooting mode is Safe Mode. Here we start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services. Please refer to the steps in this link to boot the computer in Safe Mode:
If the issue does not occur in safe mode, then you may boot the computer back to the normal mode and then perform a clean boot to check if the issue is caused by any software conflicts. This might resolve the issue.
Step 2: Perform a Clean Boot and find out which application/service is causing this issue.
A clean boot helps to eliminate software conflicts and to determine what is causing the problem. Perform a clean boot on the computer by following the steps given in the link:
Follow all the steps given in this link and try to figure out the application or service causing this issue.
Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, refer to the article “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” for Windows 8, given under the section “More Information” to reset the computer to start as usual from the above link.
